Melrose Finds
I’ve been loving the shops on Melrose, and have been hitting up the flea market and farmer’s market each weekend. It’s amazing how great produce is here, especially strawberries and avocados. My fridge is full of both right now. I picked up a couple things for the place, including this vintage 70′s side table from Thailand. Made of soap stone and marble, with elephants and dragon heads carved into it, I couldn’t resist. Also pictured: gold mirror which is hanging above my vanity, new colorful clothes, hot pink booty shorts, mint jeans and a dope neck piece from a local designer. Let’s just say I’m a skilled haggler

When Confronted with Suck, Be More Awesome
There’s a certain feeling I get when I remember moving to Boston after high school to attend Suffolk University. I was so young it seems, so excited and so unprepared for what lie ahead. I had no idea I would remain in the city for the next 9 years, exploring every neighborhood, having countless adventures with many new friends, and traveling all over in between. Boston will always feel like home to me, so many milestones and events that have shaped who I am today. Sometimes that certain familiar feeling that is both comforting and welcoming, can become vapid. This feeling can get the best of you, make you lose sight of what once made you happy, but then again, that can change too. I’m a wandering soul, and complacency is a robber of time.
While I explore my new surroundings in California, I can’t help but get a glimpse of that feeling again, only as an older, bit wiser, and a tad jaded version of that wide eyed girl. Good advice from a good friend holds true over and over:
“I think that the only times I remember, are the changes. I never remember doing the same thing. I think I’m not unique in this way, and it begs the question: if we can be dynamic, changing, striving, thirsty creatures, then we should be.
…You are whoever you want to be. I’m not referring to an astronaut or gourmet chef — those are professions. I mean you can choose complacency or dice, where and more importantly how you want to live. “Failure” is all wrong — we run from failure when really we should be running around it, laughing at it, learning from it, licking our delicious wounds.”
An ode to Boston, these are (only some) of the times I will always remember. It’s not goodbye, its just so long.

Spectrum
I’m very much into this painting by Phillip Stewart right now. I’d love for it to be very large and hanging in my place. It’s called Spectrum.

I’m also into Alex Prager, who is not only gorgeous and a self-taught photographer, but an inspiration to me. Her work is staged and evokes feelings of a dramatic movie from the 60′s or 70′s. It’s a snapshot of a moment, an emotion, and you are left to decide what is happening. Her work is showing right now in LA, I hope to catch it.

Check out this interview with Alex, very interesting.
